Organization: Democracy Green  

Location: Western NC - Remote

Contract Duration: 3-6 months  

Compensation: $25 per hour

 

Position Overview:  

Democracy Green is seeking a reliable and motivated Independent Truck Driver to assist in the transportation of donated aid materials. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that vital resources are delivered to designated drop-off points in the western region. This position requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and effective communication.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Pick up donations from Democracy Green’s warehouse 3-4 times a week.

• Transport aid materials to designated drop-off points in a timely and safe manner.

• Maintain accurate records of mileage, deliveries, and any incidents occurring during transportation.

• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.

• Report any vehicle issues or accidents to the organization immediately.

• Drivers are required to take photos and videos of the aid pickups and deliveries during each shift and submit them to their reporting department for documentation and accountability purposes.

• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate deliveries and schedules.

• Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.

 

Qualifications:  

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred; a standard driver’s license may be acceptable depending on the vehicle type.

• Proven experience as a truck driver, particularly in delivering goods or aid materials.

• Strong knowledge of local routes in the western region.

• Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to schedules.

• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy items, as needed.

 

Working Conditions:  

• Flexible schedule based on the needs of the organization.

• Work will primarily be conducted on the road, with some time spent at the warehouse for pickups and drop-offs.

• Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
